Cash desk integration of the ContentCard activation is particularly suitable for chain stores and consumer retailers. It simplifies sales by automatically activating the serial number on the ContentCard directly at the cash desk during scanning.
The end customer can bring the card to the cash desk and pay for it like any conventional product(such as video DVD or music CD), without having to deal with the activation.
By automatically activating the ContentCard during the cash desk integration, work is taken off the sales staff. The sales staff do not have to access data for manual online activation nor do they have to have special knowledge concerning the activation process.

The cash desk integration maintains all advantages of the manual ContentCard activation such as being theft-proof, no storage risk, no previous investment and combines this with the advantages of the automatic activation. This makes the ContentCard fully self-service compatible:
This is how the integrated activation at the cash desk works:
- The activation is carried out in the background during check-out, without the end customer or the sales staff noticing the activation process
- The activation of the card cannot accidently be forgotten by the sales staff
- The sales staff need no extra access data or skills to carry out the activation
- Self-service sales of very different digital products via ContentCard (e.g. MP3 songs, videos, PC software, mobile phone navigation, mobile phone dictionary etc.)
ContentCard at the cash desk
The customer brings the ContentCard to the cash desk to pay for it. The cashier reads the EAN code of the ContentCard via the scanner into the cash desk.
Reservation of the activation
After scanning the EAN codes the cash desk prompts the cashier to scan the serial number. With the help of a HTTPS request the cash desk automatically reserves the activation of this special ContentCard at the ContentCard server. By means of the ContentCard's serial number, the server checks what card it is and whether it was already activated. If the card is not yet activated, the ContentCard server will reserve the activation and will wait for the completion of the checking out process.

Cashing up and activating
The customer pays and the cashier prints the receipt. Doing this, the cash desk carries out a second HTTPS request, during which the ContentCard server finally executes the activation of the card. The card is now valid and the digital product is instantly available.
